Position Summary:

This position is responsible for assessing and licensing foster home applicants and maintaining those homes for the placement of foster children. Trains, prepares and supports foster parents. Responsible for coordinating with foster care program staff during the placement of foster children.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in recruitment and retention activities.
  • Orients prospective foster families through individual and group processes.
  • Certifies and maintains foster homes in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Bureau of Children and Adult Licensing, Department of Human Services, and the Council on Accreditation.
  • Trains PRIDE and provides other training to foster parents.
  • Assesses unlicensed relatives as needed.
  • Coordinates services with foster care and adoption programs and staff.
  • Participates in on-call placements and emergency services.
  • Attends supervision and staff meetings.
  • Performs other special assignments at supervisor’s request.

Employment Qualifications:


A Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Human Services (or a related field) from a fouryear college or university.


A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of related experience in the Licensing or human services field.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

None required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of computer systems and relevant software.
  • Ability to make appropriate assessments and recommendations.
  • Ability to prepare reports, maintain records, and collect and evaluate client data.
  • Ability to work with community organizations and use community resources to meet client needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to relate to diverse populations and cultures while communicating with clients and the public in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must submit to Agency approved background checks.
