Position Summary:

This position provides assistance in day to day operational, reporting and technical support as it pertains to events and communications of the organization. This position works closely with the Fundraising and Events Manager and Marketing and Communications Manager to provide value-based data and information that aligns with departmental and organizational goals and objectives. The Event and Communications Coordinator assists in coordination and organization for agency events, social media, creative writing, and other project based work. This position may require occasional night/weekend hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides coordination for agency events, including logistics and organization, and reports to associated committees.
  • Use personal automobile for running errands to plan events, attending Agency events, meetings, etc.
  • Acts as a point of contact in the philanthropy department; interacting (occasionally and as directed) with donors and prospects via email, phone, and general correspondence.
  • Works on communication projects, as directed, including creative writing and social media.
  • Establish and maintain a professional presence and working relationship with Development Committee of the Board of Directors, and other (ongoing) activities related to the department.
  • Provides administrative support to Philanthropy Department staff members as needed.

Employment Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications or related business field highly recommended, however not required

Experience:

A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of marketing, communications, event planning or other related relevant business experience is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

This position requires a valid driver’s license.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to maintain and audit files, records and highly sensitive financial information; demonstrated ability to handle donor interest and personal information with tact, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Supports Philanthropy team on the planning and orchestration of special events, campaigns and cultivation and stewardship functions involving volunteer leaders, benefactors and other key constituencies for the organization
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing social media platforms, including Facebook, twitter and Instagram.
  • Ability to relate to diverse populations and cultures while communicating with staff, donors, and the public in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and planning skills, ability to function under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel, with the ability to adapt to new software.
  • Carry personal auto insurance bodily injury minimum coverage of $100,000 per person, $300,000 per occurrence of $300,000 combined coverage.
  • Submit to Agency approved background checks.
  • Bilingual; ability to speak and write in Spanish is strongly preferred, however not required.
